Schneider Electric, a global energy technology leader, has announced the launch of its EasyPact CVS C4 moulded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) range in East Africa, addressing a critical gap in the region’s electrical distribution landscape.

EasyPact CVS was first introduced to the market with protection capacity up to 630A. The new EasyPact CVS C4 extends this proven range to cover applications up to 1600A, offering reliable protection against electrical faults that can cause equipment damage or fire risks. Tailored for residential developments, commercial buildings, and small to medium-sized industries, this extension ensures that segments historically underserved by existing solutions now benefit from a broader, standards‑compliant option..

Schneider Electric offers circuit breakers starting from as low as 6A, extending all the way up to 4000A. Within this portfolio, there was previously a gap between 800A and 1600A in the Easy Rangem a gap now bridged by the EasyPact CVS C4 expansion, which extends the proven EasyPact CVS line to cover these critical applications. This means Schneider Electric supports its East African customers across the entire electrical distribution chain, from the main incoming breaker after the transformer, right down to final distribution point.

Importantly, this full-range capability enables consultants, contractors, and end users to standardise on a single, comprehensive solution tailored to project needs, whether prioritising cost-efficiency or premium performance

“Previously, we had a single offering that had to serve vastly different applications, from residential estates to hospitals and data centres,” explains Ryan Mwanthi, Offer Manager: Power Products, East Africa at Schneider Electric. “But the reality is that these environments have very different levels of criticality and performance requirements.”

“With EasyPact CVS, we are closing that gap. We are now able to offer a solution that is fit-for-purpose, delivering the right level of protection, reliability, and functionality without overengineering.”

Designed for safety, reliability, and simplicity

EasyPact CVS has been engineered to deliver dependable performance in demanding environments, while remaining simple to install and operate. Key benefits include:

  • Enhanced safety: Certified for isolation in accordance with IEC 60947-2, with positive contact indication and lockable OFF positions to ensure safe maintenance operations.
  • Proven reliability: High electrical and mechanical endurance, combined with robust performance in extreme temperatures, humidity, and industrial conditions.
  • Ease of use: Common, snap-fit accessories and simplified configurations reduce installation time and complexity.
  • Operational continuity: Continuous-rated accessories and fault indication features support system uptime and fast response to issues.
  • Flexibility: Suitable for Class II switchboards and designed for both copper and aluminium connections, enabling broad application compatibility.

Enabling smarter, more accessible electrification

Beyond technical performance, the EasyPact CVS range plays a strategic role in expanding access to Schneider Electric’s technology across more segments of the market.

“There is a large and growing segment of customers who need dependable protection but are also highly cost sensitive. The EasyPact CVS allows them access Schneider Electric quality and innovation in a way that makes sense for their applications,” explains Mwanthi.

“Ultimately, it’s about giving customers choice, whether they need a premium solution for critical infrastructure, or a reliable, cost-effective option for standard applications. EasyPact CVS allows us to meet both needs with confidence,” he concludes.
